UV Protection Info & Care Guide
UV Protection Info & Care Guide
Please see the below guidance image and additional info below it:
The guidance image above reflects our 99.7% UV Protective acrylic, available as an option or default on most of our frames. We also have some sheets available which test even higher at 99.9% UVR. The guidance is the same for all products regardless of sheet choice.
Choosing Your Glazing:
- UV Protective Acrylic: Typically offers 99.7% UV filtration. 2mm thick acrylic with our latest batch (October 2026) testing at exactly 99.7%.
- Premium 'Museum Grade' Acrylic: Offer up to 99.9% UV filtration. (We use some specialist options, including Artglass Lifetime, Motheye and Acryguard brands, more are available upon request). These brands have some visual benefits too such as anti-glare, but are high cost and offered as a custom quote only. Similarly, glass can also be quoted for.
- Standard Acrylic (Styrene): Our budget-friendly option for when UV protection is not required.
- Note: If a listing does not offer a specific choice, we generally use the 2mm highly protective option (~99.7% UVR). At the time of writing our latest batch of that sheet has tested at exactly 99.7% UVR. Please check the options listed or contact us for clarification.
Our Testing & Verification: At Ridanco Displays, we regularly verify our materials using an in-house light transmission testing machine. Can other frame suppliers verify their specs with live evidence? Upon request prior to your order, we are happy to provide timestamped photos or a video of the test results for the exact sheet used during your frame build.
Important Display Limitations: No acrylic or glass sheet will ever fully prevent fading. Light and heat can cause damage even when highly UV protective acrylic is used. Therefore, we can offer no guarantees on fading prevention. All advertised UVR percentages are communicated with our best efforts of accuracy but should only be considered an approximate. You must consider all guidance and display your items responsibly
