Protecting Your Custom Frames
A beautifully crafted custom frame deserves to arrive at your door in exactly the same pristine condition it left our workshop. We take the safe transit of your order just as seriously as the production process itself - and it shows! We get almost no reports of damage despite sending many large frames worldwide daily. Here is a behind-the-scenes look at the materials and efforts we use to securely package your orders.
Initial Protection & wraps
Though our packaging process differs considerably between small and large frames, the first step is always sealing the frame in a clear bag and/or wrap. This protects the frame from the elements during delivery, while also acting as a barrier between any additional packaging and the frame. Next, depending on the size we may add an additional protection of foam corners (typically larger frames are foam-corner protected as a formality) then wrapped with film. These layers helps hold everything safely in place while offering additional protection. The larger the frame, the more layers and packaging precautions are used.
Reinforced Corners & Impact Padding
The corners of a picture frame are the most vulnerable points during shipping. To defend against bumps and drops, we ensure the corners of the frame are suitably reinforced with soft packaging within the parcel, unable to move around in the box. Once the correct box size is determined, we swaddle the frame in layers of protective fill - using materials like bubble wrap or recycled paper - creating a sacrificial cushioning barrier all the way around.
Rigid Outer Cartons
The final line of defense is the shipping box itself. Your wrapped frame is housed inside a custom-sized, rigid cardboard box. We ensure there is no empty space inside the package so the frame cannot shift or bounce during transit, and we seal all edges shut with high-strength packing tape with our Ridanco branding - and on request we can send under plain cover. Some of our popular smaller frames use pre-made boxes, whereas our larger frames are packed using custom cut double wall cardboard sheets and hard edge pieces. Where possible we will utilize recycled cardboard and also recycled protective material - reusing anything we can to do our bit for the environment.
